LeetCode-28 Implement strStr()

Description

Implement strStr().
Return the index of the first occurrence of needle in haystack, or -1 if needle is not part of haystack.

Clarification:
What should we return when needle is an empty string? This is a great question to ask during an interview.
For the purpose of this problem, we will return 0 when needle is an empty string. This is consistent to C’s strstr() and Java’s indexOf().

Example

Example 1:
Input: haystack = “hello”, needle = “ll”
Output: 2

Example 2:
Input: haystack = “aaaaa”, needle = “bba”
Output: -1

Submissions

我的解题思路是首先判断needle是否为空和haystack是否与needle相同，如果是这两种情况则直接返回0.如果不是则依次遍历haystack字符串，当遍历到haystack的第i个字符与needle第一个字符相同时，则继续判断haystack从i位置开始是否包含needle，是则返回i.如果遍历结束haystack不包含needle则返回-1.

实现代码如下：

class Solution:
    def strStr(self, haystack: str, needle: str) -> int:
        if not needle or haystack == needle:
            return 0
        for i in range(len(haystack)-1):
            if haystack[i] == needle[0]:
                if haystack[i:i+len(needle)] == needle:
                    return i               
        return -1

而我经过查阅其他人的做法，竟然发现其实一行代码就可以解决这个问题，即用python中的find()方法.
下面介绍一下find()：
Python find() 方法检测字符串中是否包含子字符串 str ，如果指定 beg（开始） 和 end（结束） 范围，则检查是否包含在指定范围内，如果包含子字符串返回开始的索引值，否则返回-1。

实现代码如下：

class Solution:
    def strStr(self, haystack: str, needle: str) -> int:
        return haystack.find(needle)
