路径: Warehouse management > Setup > Number sequence extensions
1.Setup Number sequence extensions
When you first open the form, you will find it blank. Click on “Create default setup” and it will load some records to get you started. As a user you have option to either modify the default extensions or create a new one.
For the BOL number to be VICS compliant, it must be 17 digits in total. See details below from gs1us.org website.
In Dynamics 365, the 17-digit BOL number is controlled by three different elements:
1) 头7位数字是不能在这个界面编辑和修改的,因为这个字段的值来源于仓库管理参数上的设置. To define GS1 company prefix for your organization, go to Warehouse management parameters. On the General tab, add the details under company information group.
2) The next 9 digits will be controlled by a number sequence. From a number sequence perspective, just make sure it’s setup as 9 digits. Use segment “Number sequence”. We will cover the mapping to number sequence form in a later section in this article.
3) The last digit must be a check digit that is calculated based on the previous 16 digits. This is also controlled by number sequence extension. Use segment “Check digit”.
2. Map Number Sequence and Number sequence extension
To define the mapping between the number sequences and the number sequence extension we created in section above, go to Warehouse management parameters. On the number sequence tab, the new column “Number sequence extensions” has been added.
Locate the number sequence for “Bill of lading ID” and specify the “BOL”, which is the number sequence extension that we created in the steps above.
At this point the mapping between the number sequence and number sequence extension is complete. Now we are ready to start testing the feature.
3. Verify the VICS compliant BOL number
The Bill of lading is generated from the Shipments form. To access the form, go to Warehouse management > Shipments > All shipments. Select a shipment and then click on Generate > Bill of lading. The Bill of lading report gets generated.
The Bill of lading number and corresponding barcode is displayed on the report. We scanned the barcode to validate the check digit and it is same as what we see on the Bill of lading number.
The same bill of lading number is also stored in the system. See the screenshot below.
