In contemporary society, it never falis to be an increasingly widespread topic discussed by parents that should students get pocket money. Some parents may argue that children are too young to cope with the temptations around them; in this respect, they can hardly arrange their pocket money and might do harm to their growing-up. That may lead some impressional individuals to conclude that children should not be provided money even for their remarkable achievement in school. That suffers from both logical and practical fallacies. In my perspective, I strongly believe that students should receive some material reward when they get a high grade.

For one thing, students are more likely to cultivate their ecnomical sense, and to better arrange their money in the future. The uncertain incoming of young ages might make them develope a good habit to raise their money. Taking myself as an example, compared with my classmates who get weekly pocket money from their parents, I have less money to be arranged. Therefore, despite the enticement of snacks, I raised the money to purchase the books, and finally I filled up my shelf. This habit also contribute to my school life today, I never worry about the money at the end of the month, when my roommates need to do some part-time job to feed themselves.

For another thing, a material reward release a sighal that parents and the society admit and respect your hard work and achievement, theis would contribute to the cultivation of a right sense of worth. As a survey conducted by RenminNet, one of the most authorized media in China, more than 90 of the respondents, including workers and students, claim that they would like to recieve some reward, especially some bonuses, which will make them more effective and enthusiam. For children, we also need to give them some money to show a recognization of their hard work. Anyway, a bunch of money by which they can purchase something they really like seems the best reward for a children.

Additionally, this will raise a good phenomenon in school, every student getting the reward for their advancement will inspire them to be more conentrated and develope a ritual competition between students. This is undoubtly what we really want to see in a school.

In a nutshell, a reward for their hard working could cultivate their responsibility of their money as well as stimulating their eager to do better. Anyway, there are one thousand Hamlet in one thousand people’s eyes, I hope the people holding opposite opinions could somehow compromise after exposed to this topic.
