• Transformation Spacer: non-linear

• Non-linear deformations: Thin Plate Spline:
  Identify corresponding points on the moving and fixed images.
  Transform the points on the moving image to the ones on the fixed image.
  Interpolate the transformation between the points.
  Thin plate splines belong to the set of ‘radial basis functions’.

• Non-linear deformations: Cubic B-Spline:
  Place a grid of points on the moving image.
  Move some of the grid points.
  Determine the transformation based on a weighted average of the nearby grid points.
  Cubic B-splines belong to the set of basis splines.
