Association of convolution and integral
Why is it a problem for me 😃
When I researched on kinetic model for some radiotracer, some researches displayed model function as below:
C T ( t ) = K 1 C a ( t ) ⨂ e − k 2 t Eq.1 C_{T}(t) = K_{1}C_{a}(t) \bigotimes e^{-k_{2}t} \tag*{Eq.1} CT(t)=K1Ca(t)⨂e−k2tEq.1
but other researchers discribed it as another form:
d C T ( t ) d t = K 1 C a ( t ) − k 2 C T ( t ) Eq.2 \frac{dC_{T}(t)}{dt} = K_{1}C_{a}(t)-k_{2}C_{T}(t) \tag*{Eq.2} dtdCT(t)=K1Ca(t)−k2CT(t)Eq.2
is there any difference existed ?
For convolution
Input function f ( x ) f(x) f(x) and h ( x ) h(x) h(x), then we will get g ( x ) g(x) g(x):
g ( x ) = f ( x ) ⨂ h ( x ) ⟺ g ( x ) = ∫ − ∞ + ∞ f ( τ ) h ( x − τ ) d τ Eq.3 g(x) = f(x) \bigotimes h(x) \iff g(x) = \int_{-\infty}^{+\infty}f(\tau)h(x-\tau)d\tau \tag*{Eq.3} g(x)=f(x)⨂h(x)⟺g(x)=∫−∞+∞f(τ)h(x−τ)dτEq.3
For the first order linear differential equation
just like a function as below:
y ′ + P ( x ) y = Q ( x ) Eq.4 y \prime + P(x)y = Q(x) \tag*{Eq.4} y′+P(x)y=Q(x)Eq.4
its general solution:
y = C e − ∫ P ( x ) d x + e − ∫ P ( x ) d x ∫ Q ( x ) e ∫ P ( x ) d x d x Eq.5 y = Ce^{-\int P(x)dx}+e^{-\int P(x)dx}\int Q(x)e^{\int P(x)dx}dx \tag*{Eq.5} y=Ce−∫P(x)dx+e−∫P(x)dx∫Q(x)e∫P(x)dxdxEq.5
Output
First, I sloved the Eq.2:
C T ( t ) = e − k 2 t K 1 ∫ C a ( t ) e k 2 t d t Eq.6 C_{T}(t) = e^{-k_{2}t} K_{1}\int C_a(t)e^{k_{2}t}dt \tag*{Eq.6} CT(t)=e−k2tK1∫Ca(t)ek2tdtEq.6
and then expanded the convolution:
C T ( t ) = K 1 ∫ C a ( t ) e − k 2 ( T − t ) d t Eq.7 C_{T}(t) = K_{1}\int C_a(t)e^{-k_{2}(T-t)}dt \tag*{Eq.7} CT(t)=K1∫Ca(t)e−k2(T−t)dtEq.7
No difference between Eq.6 and Eq.7
So easy…
