Essential Verbs For Meetings

Verbs
brainstorm have a discussion to suggest lots of ideas for an activity or for solving a problem
e.g. Let's brainstorm some ideas for the new campaign.
e.g.We need to start brainstorming solutions to the problem right now!
reviewto look at or examine something carefully,especially before making a decision
e.g. I think we need more time to review the situation.
e.g. Robert, have you already reviewed the new IT security guidelines?
identifyto recognise something or discover exactly what it is
e.g. Have we identified the cause of the problem?
e.g. We're very excited because we've identified a gap in the market.
implementto start using a system or plan
e.g. I think we should implement flexitime to help our staff with their work-life balance.

analyseto study or examine something in detail, to find out more about it
e.g. We analysed the results of the survey and found that most of our customers are satisfied with our products.

approachto deal with something
e.g.We need to find a different way of approaching this problem.
e.g. Jack, do you have a suggestion on how we can approach this situation?
go round(the table)to ask all the meeting participants for their opinions or ideas about something
e.g.Let me just go round the table and get everyone's opinion on this.
e.g. Can we go round the table and take a vote?
finaliseto finish the last part of a plan, arrangement or business deal
e.g.Will we be able to finalise the deal this week?
e.g. Maria, can you please finalise the arrangements for our trip to Mumbai?

8 Useful Phrasal Verbs For Work

fill in for somebodyto do another person's job for a short period oftime because they are not there or are unable to do it

The boss asked me to fill in for him next week, because he has to go to an important conference.

get back to someoneto talk to someone or call them again in order to give them information that you couldn't give them earlier
e.g.I'm sorry I don't have that information right now, but l will get back to you by the end of the day. Would that be okay?

get back to someoneto happen, usually unexpectedly
e.g. A lot of problems came up in the first week of the project, but now things are running more smoothly.
e.g. I'm sorry, but something has just come up and I need to deal with it immediately.

e.g. I had to deal with a lot of customer complaints last week.
e.g. We've had some technical problems with the new website, but we're dealing with them.

bring upto start discussing a topic

e.g.I'm sorry, but l don't think we have time for that. Maybe you should bring it up at the next meeing.
go onto start talking again after a pause or interruption
e.g. Please go on - l'm sorry for interrupting.
e.g.May I go on?
break something downto separate something into smaller parts so that it's easier to do or understand
e.g.The process sounds quite complex. Could you break it down for us please?
e.g.There's a lot involved in this task, so it might be better to break it down into smaller tasks.
point something outto tell someone something that they did not already know or had not thought about
e.g.That's completely new to me! Thanks forpointing it out.
e.g.I'd just like to point out that these results are from last year, not this year.

6 Common Email Errors

辨析

Introduce Your Company And Product or Service

这类邮件通常遵循以下结构:

  • Introduction
  • Reason for writing
  • The value you can offer
  • CTA - Call to action

Introduction

正式表达:
My name is (your full name) and l am the (job title) at (company name).
不那么正式:
I’m (your first name) from (company name).
你和收件人有共同认识的人:
I’m (your first name) and I’m a colleague/friend of (name of the person you both know). S/he gave me your contact details and mentioned that you might be interested in (the product or area of expertise that you or your company can offer).

Reason for writing

正式表达:
I would like to talk to you about how our (name of product/service) has helped our customers/clients to (name a typical client goal).
不那么正式:
I’m reaching out to (the person’s job title in the pluralform) in the (name of industry/business field) like you to let you know about our latest (name of product/service).
I’m contacting you to introduce our latest (name ofproduct/service).
I’m contacting you as l’ve been talking to other (the person’s job title in the plural form) and l believe our (name of product/service) can help to (name a typical client goal).
I’d love to talk to you about how we’ve been changing the (name of industry/business field) with our (type of product/area of expertise),

The value you can offer

正式表达:
We have been in the market since (the year your company entered the market) and we have worked with over (number) clients to (name a typical client goal).
既不是正式的,也不是非正式的,介于两者之间的表达:
What our clients value most about working with us is our exceptional service. For example,(give an example of how you exceeded a client’s expectations).
更多的栗子:
We’re convinced that our (name of product/service) will (name a typical client goal) more effectively than anything else currently on the market.
Our (name of product/service) has helped (name 2-3 clients that the person will know) to (name a typicalclient goal).

CTA - Call to action

1.让对方打开并阅读文件或访问自家网站:
正式表达:
