Lane Community College, which has built a reputation as a leader in environmental initiatives, is going to have to scale back on some of its green ambitions because of costs. Plans for the college's solar-powered electric-car charging station were more expensive than Column Wedding Dresses originally estimated; the college will have one charging station for 18 cars, instead of two for 36, according to The Register-Guard, in Eugene, Ore.

College officials tell the newspaper that they had a hard time estimating the cost of the facility, because of the variables -- such as the prospect of pumping electricity back to the grid in the initial years, when there are few electric cars on the road.

That is an issue that critics of the project have raised: Why is the college building a $675,000 charging station when there are only 400 electric cars in all of Oregon? Todd Wynn of the Cascade Policy Institute -- a Portland think tank that promotes a free-market, Gucci Belt Bagssmall-government, antitax agenda -- described the project as "probably one of the most egregious examples of government waste that I’ve probably seen in this state in a little while."

However, Mary Spilde, Lane's president, said she believes that electric cars are a wave of the future. "You don’t want to take a bet on everything that is futuristic, but we think this is a fairly good bet," she told the paper.
This building includes three large sound stages for film, video, and motion-capture instruction, as well as teaching space for lighting, set-making, directing, and animation classes. Like a film, the building uses spatial layering and oblique compositional lines to create depths of field, and within the building light and perspective are manipulated to create spaces similar to great Louis Vuitton Tivoli PM cinematic ones. Another design issue was isolating the building from the sound and vibration of adjacent train tracks and nearby streets. Special attention was given to creating flat floors on which cameras roll easily; to low-velocity, quiet ventilation that doesn't interfere with filming; and to durable surfaces for moving large carts and lights. The building is designed to earn LEED gold certification.

This new facility includes stadium-style. and bleacher seating for 1,400 fans, a concession stand, public restrooms, two locker rooms, a training room, and Louis Vuitton Neo Caba meeting room for visiting teams, along with a ticket booth and press box. The field, which is lighted for night games, has the latest technology in athletic turf, with mono-spine fibers and a sand-and-rubber infill mix. The project also created patio areas for picnics and tailgating.
