华南虎事件给媒体界的一些思考

近日,著名的“华南虎”事件再掀波澜,26日网易首页挂出了华南虎照片的新闻,接下来为讨版权周正龙向网易索赔40万。然而,从网易罗列的照片看来,编号、拍摄时间、焦距、曝光模式包括拍摄相机型号等数据一应俱全,在每张照片上都打上“网易独家披露”字样。而且声明称“图片归周正龙先生版权所有,请与网易新闻联系以便支付稿酬。转载、使用全部照片,需经周正龙先生许可。”

 

看来网易在披露照片的时候,也考虑到了版权问题,但谁都知道这叫“不打自招”或者“此地无银三百两”,既然“转载、使用全部照片,需经周正龙先生许可”,那么网易是否经周先生许可这是其一;其二,网易作为一个著名的网络媒体难道没有考虑到在互联网上转载,复制,使用是易如反掌么?

 

就在上周,笔者有幸去复旦大学参加了复旦大学新闻系和网易共同举办的一个活动,其中有嘉宾提到了周老虎的话题,也讨论了媒体的社会责任和发展问题,我对此话题突然感兴趣起来。应该说,事情闹到现在,值得媒体人关注的是媒体在这个过程中扮演了什么角色?暴露出了什么弊病?拿刚才网易为例子以及整个华南虎事件,哪些问题值得媒体人思考?

 

一, 媒体的底线在哪里?

 

在中央电视台某名栏目中,一位公共形象一向不错的主持人说“照片的真假不重要,重要的是要保护好华南虎”,在网络上引起轩然大波,引来骂声一片。这种话出于一个媒体人口中实在有些不应该,但它反映了某些媒体的心理动态------一个媒体为挖掘事实真相或许会付出很大代价,由此在真相和利益之间选择了利益。我想起了那天复旦大学的论坛上,某个嘉宾讲的,媒体虽然口口声声在将事实和真相,但往往很多媒体由于不负责,做了造假者的帮凶,因为这样他们可以将利益最大化。

 

二, 开放性的媒体的价值取向问题?

 

媒体发展到今天,其意义已经有了很大延展,随着Web2.0的兴起,草根媒体,个人媒体不断发展壮大,而且将长尾理论发展得淋漓尽致。在此次周老虎事件中,草根力量起到了推波助澜的作用,它大大推动了事件朝深度和广度发展。但这种开放性的媒体力量最大的弊端就是浮躁,之所以虐猫,裸照等事件会让媒体乐此不彼,而传统的黑煤窑问题媒体却置之不理,正是因为媒体也在随波逐流。随着互联网的发展,开放性媒体已经很大程度上左右了传统媒体的价值取向,因为传统媒体也要生存啊,不得不选择吸引眼球的新闻做文章,但这也无一例外的违背了社会的发展和媒体的原则。因此,开放性媒体究竟是利大还是弊大呢?如何去屏蔽它的弊而发扬它的利呢?

 

三, 未来的版权会不会子虚乌有?

 

由于互联网的发展,版权问题已经成了一个不得不引起媒体界重视的问题。由于互联网将媒体门槛降低了许多,由此而引发了极大的混乱。互联网让版权进入了一个灰色的时代,几乎所有的网络媒体都在“踩红线”,踩红线都罢了,但踩了你还拿他没办法。请记住,在互联网里,所有网民都可能成为新闻的制造者和传播者,这使得管理难度极大。但互联网媒体正在钻着这类空子铤而走险,肆无忌惮。此次网易事件不过是个冰山一角,无论网易是否侵权,版权问题都是值得媒体界好好思考的。

What should Media ponder for the issue of “South China Tiger”

 

Recently, the notable issue of “South China Tiger” becomes more hotter. On 26th , the main page of NetEase published some photos of South China Tiger which are taken by Zhou Zheng Long. Then Zhou claim four hundred of thousand to NetEase for compensation by the reason of copyright. However, from the photos we can get all the information including serial number, time for shoot and so on. And all have been printed the words of “Sole Publication”. The most significant thing is that NetEase claims that all the photos are authorized by Zhou for publication.

 

NetEase has taken the copyright into consideration. But it is anther kind of way to confess without being pressed. Whether NetEase has obtained the copyright is out of confirmation. Then NetEase , which is one of the most notable Internet Media in China, should ponder the problem of transferring, copying , which is as easy as turning one hand over.

 

Last week, I took part in one activity which is cooperated by “News Department” of Fu Dan University and NetEase. One of the guests mentioned the issue of the tiger. He also pointed out the problem of social responsibility and development of media. Suddenly I feel I am so interested in this topic. Today, what should be pay attention to is the feature of media? What’s the problem has been brought out? What should be pondered?

 

The base line of Media

 

In one program of CCTV, one popular emcee said that it was not so significant for the facticity of the photos, but protecting the tiger. It was heavily criticized in internet. It is not correct for one media worker. However it shows the mind of some media. It will cost much for them to obtain the truth, so they choose value instead of truth. Just as what the guest pointed out, many media claim truth. But as a matter of fact, so many medias are not responsible for the news. They accelerate to make the falsehood. If that, they can get most value.

 

The value-orient of open media

 

The sense of media has developed largely up to today. With the development of web2.0, personal media and base media are growing quickly. They interpret the theory of “Long Tail”. In the issue of “South China Tiger”, base media has taken enormous effect and it impulses the development of whole issue. But the weak point is fickleness. As we know, “abuse cat”, “nude photos” are so hot, so popular for media, but the classical materials for example “coal mine” have been casted away because they want to go with the stream. The open media has greatly affect the value-orient of classical media. They have to choose some more popular issue as their news to make, to fry, even it is contrary to the principle of society and media. So can you tell the strong point and the weak point? How to evade the weak point?

 

The copyright will vanish

 

Since the development of internet, copyright is one problem which call for the attention of all the media. Internet has lowered the requirement of media so that it causes a lot of confusion. It is ashen time for copyright. Almost all the medias are stepped on “Red Line”. There is no good method to solve the problem. Please remember that, all net citizen can be the makers and disseminators of news. It is difficult to manage. So many internet medias are exploiting the  advantage barbarically. It is one easy case for the issue of NetEase. No matter what the result is, copyright is worthy pondering for media industry.
