又写了一篇英语作文……

这是我英语作文的要求：

我的作文是这样的：

There has been a rise of dispute on the real function of a university. Some argue that universities should provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace; others reckon that the true function of a university should be to give access to knowledge for its own sake, regardless of whether the course is useful to an employer. In my point of view, universities should combine knowledge with technology, so as to raise compound talents to the society.

 

Universities, as some people point out, is not paradise for elites, instead, they should burden more responsibility in offering knowledge and skill for work. To begin with, a graduate student is intended for the society, he/she can perform well if he/she is well prepared for his/her work. To fulfill the requirement, special trainings are needed. Then if he is well equipped with expertise, he can outstand in the fierce job competition. Finally, the university in which he studies need to afford such courses, not only specialized, but also general.

 

Of course, the opponents have their ground: university should give students knowledge for its own sake. It’s not unrealistic to find that fewer students pursue pure knowledge; vocational schools take the role of some universities. In addition, some courses can be useful because they can nurture mind and instructs wisdom of living albeit there are not useful when put into practice.

 

To the best of my knowledge, I find that a student who is taught with both general knowledge and specialized knowledge can perform well in his/her careers; therefore, universities should take effective and wise measures to combine general knowledge and expertise. Although it’s not an easy way, yet some trial can be quite successful. I hope universities can play a pivotal role in the development of individuals.
