Several people have asked if QMX is an abbreviation for anything. The answer to the question is yes, but you have to know something about Roman numerals. If you look at the QMX icon, it is actually QMX with a bar over the X (see screen capture below).
In Roman numerals, X-bar is 10000, so MX-bar is 9000. Therefore QMX-bar is an abbreviation for Quality 9000
