I was reading a technical paper this afternoon, and there was a question popped up in my mind. My reading would not be thorough if without knowing the answer of the question. I knew a person from whom I can seek help, but... he's not around therefore grabbing him to my screen is not possible. Giving him a call to describe the problem and expecting him to have full understanding of the problem is difficult as always the common case that technical problem is NOT easily described verbally, instead, using a diagram/figure is a wise resort. How can I do it? What should i do?
Fortunately, the person i was turning to is seating at his desktop. We exchanged the question by using the whiteboard functionality provided by a IM tool. It worked........ and it turned out very efficiently. Although I knew such tool long long time ago, but this is my first time to experiment it. And........... it's terrific!
The lesson i learnt from the case is to make best use of the offering in our toolkit. Some examples include:
- Use outlook to manage our to-do list;
- Use calendar to manage our meeting/appointment;
- For recurrent events, use reminder to remind ourself;
- Use Wiki for team cooperation.....
Coming soon, will share my experience on using these tools to manage my daily chore!
