生物活性：羊毛甾醇是胆固醇合成的中间体，羊毛甾醇的使用会诱导胆固醇合成速率控制酶（即 HMG CoA 还原酶）的泛素化和降解。羊毛甾醇抑制与神经退行性疾病相关的错误折叠蛋白的聚集和细胞毒性[1][2]。 

体外：羊毛甾醇通过诱导表达辅助伴侣 CHIP 和提高自噬来减少异常蛋白毒性聚集并减轻其细胞毒性[1]。
羊毛甾醇是胆固醇生物合成途径中减数分裂激活甾醇的前体，并且诱导指示卵母细胞重新启动减数分裂的生理信号[2]。
