The Semi-Implicit Method for Pressure Linked Equation (SIMPLE) [23] is often distinguished from the family of MAC methods but shares commonality with the MAC methods for discretizing the governing equations on the staggered grid. The SIMPLE method treats the advective and diffusive terms implicitly to determine the velocity and pressure variables through iterations. In that respect, this method is quite different from the HSMAC method that explicitly treats the advective and diffusive terms, which are used to compute the initial guess for the subsequent iterations
