The people who are interested in VMs must know that VMWare, Virtual-PC runs much faster than Bochs.
Why? You must know that the original concept model of VMs uses the instruction simulation, which is for the portability of the VM. Yes, it doesn't consider the performance issue. Bochs is the model of such orthodox example. While for the business oriented VM products, as VMWare, Virtual-PC, they take performance as the first issue to handle -- They didn't simulate the native instructions at all~! Almost all the instructions run directly on the hardware! For the Ring0 instructions, they rewrite or simulate these instructions. -- Actually, VMWare & Virtual-PC are not orthodox VMs :)
