The traffic problems getting worse over years is worthy of our attention. It arouses an immediate solution in order to alleviate the horrible traffic in many metropolises. Therefore, charging a fee on drivers during peak hours should be an effective way in ameliorating the current traffic conditions. 

As demonstrated by laws in economics, the increasing cost for driving will lower people’s potential to drive thus the traffic congestions nowadays can be solved more or less. The fee imposed on drivers discourage them to drive their own car during peak hours. Then the road will be less crowded and less noises or harmful gas will be produced. The fee definitely played an important role not only in solving traffic jams but also in reducing pollution during the peak hours. 

Moreover, the money gained through the fee can also be used as overhead for expanding roads or building high-ways. Even though people can always see numerous roads in big cities, the space on the roads are still relatively insufficient in comparison with number of cars. Since the traffic condition is not ideal now, it is reasonable and necessary for the government to spend more money in making the roads better. The fee collected serves this purpose just well. With a relatively huge amount of money, the government can make the future traffic to be of better condition through constructions or development.

Besides, the fee charged by the government can also promote the use of public transportation. Since people started to drive less during the peak hours, their options for going out is limited. Public transportation, in this case, can be utilized more efficiently. These buses that used to be relatively sparse in people can now be filled up. There is huge amount of overhead for buses to operate and by encouraging more people to take public transportations, this amount of money can be compensated. 

To sum up, it is a wise decision for the government to charge a fee on those who drives during the peak hours. While reducing the traffic jams during rush hours, this can can also help with pollution problems and future construction.
