7/9

I start to read Jan Eyre today and, without surprise, a dozen of names appeared on the first page discourage my interest in the book. However, I kept on reading whatsoever. I find that it is always a similar pattern in many stories that the character is under suppression by someone else in the family. Jane, as story told, is John's victim. She was constantly beaten up or struck by the boy. But it really raises a question that why she does not fight back. It sounds unreasonable that a someone will stand this situation without taking some actions. Jane even confessed that she never had an idea to reply to it. In terms of this action, I think it to be acceptable because one cannot bite back if a dog bites him. Under strong prejudice and discrimination to her family background, Jane's life is really harsh. It even matches people's ideas today that impoverished people are in lower classes. Jane was even blamed for taking out a book which is thought to belong to John. As described as a tyrant, John's title is something I strongly agree upon.
