I have been enjoying Stephen Chou's movies for a very long time. He was one of my favorite actors in Hong Kong. Famous for his comedy movies, Stephan stared in more than forty movies, with each one well known to both mainland and Hong Kong. I feel relaxed when watching his movies because much of the humor within the movie is not direct. Instead, it requires some interpretation from the audience so as to understand. Just like many other jokes, scenes in his movies are heavily related to cultural stuff. I also liked movies from his contemporaries such as Chou Yun Fat and Jacky Chan. Chou Yun Fat is definitely the most famous role in China for the images in his movies are so great. In a sense, his achievement is even greater than Stephan.
Beside the joy I get from watching Stephan's movies, it is also a very good way to learn Cantonese. I can understand most of the sentences without captions. By listening to their words, I can improve my Cantonese. In order for me to maintain learning it rather than having the language fade away from my mind, I need to practice it regularly.
I watched the movie Triangle last night and found this movie a little bit weird. The plot is tight and imaginative, through I cannot get the gist of the movie after I finished watching it. I understand that it is a cycle for Jess to undergo but the plot does not make sense logically. After I researched a little bit afterwards, I came to realized that Jess is already died during a car accident and it was her soul that made the entire travel and the cycle. It is a movie much better than the movie Exam, which is very boring and nothing like the comments from other audiences.
