Things You Didn't Do

这是一首有关越战的小诗，幽默诙谐，带有讽刺意味，同时也提醒人们珍惜身边人，莫待无花空折枝。

Remember the day I borrowed your brand new car and I dented it?

I thought you'd kill me but you didn't.

And remember the time I dragged you to the beach and you said it would rain and it did?

I thought you'd say, "I told you so", but you didn't.

Do you remember the time I flirted with all the guys to make you jealous and you were.

I thought you'd leave me, but you didn't.

Do you remember the time I spilled strawberry pie all over your car rug.

I thought you'd hit me but you didn't.

And remember the time I forgot to tell you the dance was formal and you showed up in jeans?

I thought you'd drop me. But you didn't.

Yes, there were lots of things you didn't do.

But you put up with me and you loved me and you protected me.

There were lots of thing I wanted to make up to you when you returned from Vietnam.

But you didn't.

 

还记得吗，那天我问你借崭新的车，却撞凹了一块。

我以为你会气得想杀我，你却没有。

还有那次，你告诉我可能会下雨，我却非拉着你去海边玩，结果湿透。

我以为你会说“之前说过啊”，你却没有。

记得吗，我当着你的面故意和别的男孩子打闹，让你嫉妒。你真的上当了。

我以为你会离开我，你却没有。

记得吗，我把草莓派撒得你满车都是。

我以为你会揍我一顿，你却没有。

记得吗，我忘了告诉你舞会很正式，你只穿了身牛仔裤。

我以为你会离我远远的，你却没有。

是的，太多太多的事，你都没有做。

但你始终和我在一起，爱我，保护着我。

我要做许多许多的事补偿你，只等你从越南回来的那天。

但是，你却没有。
