The default ULIMIT value for SCO systems is 2097151. This value should be set to 2113674 before beginning installation. Oracle Support strongly suggests that you reconfigure your machine using the following instructions before attempting to install Oracle on SCO.
To change the system-wide ULIMIT value, take the following steps:
1) Log in as root.
2) Edit the file /etc/default/login. Find the line that reads ULIMIT=2097151 and change it to ULIMIT=2113674
3) Bring the system down into single-user mode:
# shutdown -y -i1
4) Run the configure utility:
# cd /etc/conf/cf.d
# ./configure
5) Choose option 4 (Processes, Memory Management and Swapping) and type the <ENTER>; key until prompted for the new value of ULIMIT. Enter 2113674 at this prompt. Continue typing <ENTER>; until you have reached the end of the parameter prompts. Enter "q" to quit, and choose to update the system configuration files and to relink the UNIX kernel.
6) Reboot your system:
# shutdown -y -i6
