Position: EMC VMware Pre-Sales System Engineer
Location: Shanghai
Report to: EMC VMware Theatre Leader & TS managers in theatre

Responsibility:
Ensure that EMC TS and VMware SE organization are educated and able to execute on our joint technical value-proposition.
· Increase Top-Line VMware-related Hardware, Software, and Services Revenue: Responsible for driving and differentiating both EMC hardware and software in campaigns where VMware technologies are the key driver, and the TS and Sales organizations having highlighted the campaign as a priority.
· Working with VMware SEs and VMware Partners:
– Works on an ongoing basis to increase the excellence of EMC Velocity Partners and ASN partners with a focus on EMC’s VMware-centric Hardware and Software solutions.
– Works with their local VMware SE counterparts – educating them on EMC’s VMware related solutions, and strengthening VMware/EMC relationships.
· Increasing VMware Solution Excellence across TSG:
– Continually train the generalist TCs in their region on how to effectively position EMC solutions (hardware, software, reference architectures, services) during the sale cycle via face-to-face sessions and weekly webcasts
– Work with the TCs to fine-tune their positioning of EMC VMware-related hardware and software solutions as well as provide updates on “hot button issues” (example: VMware ESX 3.5, Storage Vmotion, Site Recovery Manager) for opportunities which are focused on VMware
– For post-sales Solutions Architects and Implementation Specialists, the VMware Pre-Sales Technical Specialist provides quarterly local hands-on sessions where the latest research, best practices, and solutions are discussed in closed, hands on sessions.
· Building VMware Expertise in EMC Products and Bundles

–The VMware Pre-Sales Technical Specialist participates in all EMC VMware-related distribution groups and social media forums
– SME supporting development of VMware-related bundling and marketing initiatives
– The VMware Pre-Sales Technical Specialist will have access to a solutions testing Lab. The lab will be used for ongoing integration tests, beta activity, performance and interoperability testing of EMC/VMware solutions.
· Increasing EMC’s presence in the VMware community at large
– The VMware Pre-Sales Technical Specialist participates in local VMUG sessions, the VMware Communities, and is an active participant at VMworld and EMC World.

Qualifications
- The most critical attribute is overwhelming VMware technical domain expertise, existing strong relationships with VMware SE team.
- 4+ years of hands on experience with VMware – and a VMware true believer.
- Active (published online or in print) member of the VMware community (VMware Communities, VMUGs, VMworld, Blogosphere) – note that this is also a key recruitment vehicle.
- VCP certification
- Experience managing VMware environments.
- Experience in a Pre-sales/consulting role.
- EMC DNA (passionate, energetic, get it done, do what it takes, desire to win)
- Experience with EMC technologies is a strong additional consideration, but not a pre-requisite
- Ideally from our emerging competitors with strong VMware-centric solutions programs (NetApp, EqualLogic)
- Excellent presentation, facilitation and communication skills
