Camera Quantum Efficiency and Responsivity
2023-7-11 10:26:19
Camera Quantum Efficiency(QE) and Responsivity are similar measurements for the photodetector response to photons.
The QE is defined as the ratio of electron numbers to the number of incident photons:
Q
E
λ
=
η
=
N
e
N
v
\begin{align*} & QE_{\lambda} = \eta = \frac{N_e}{N_v} \end{align*}
QEλ=η=NvNe
Where
N
e
N_e
Ne is the number of electrons produced,
N
v
N_v
Nv is the number of photons absorbed.
Whereas the Camera’s Responsibility is defined as the ratio of photocurrent(ampere) to the incident optical power(watt)(A/W):
R
=
I
P
P
i
n
\begin{align*} & R = \frac{I_P}{P_{in}} \end{align*}
R=PinIP
Where
I
P
I_P
IP is the current and
P
i
n
P_{in}
Pin is the incident optical power. Because the energy of one photon is defined as:
E

h
f

h
c
λ
\begin{align*} & E = hf = h\frac{c}{\lambda} \end{align*}
E=hf=hλc

f is frequency,
c

c=299 792 458 m / s
c=299792458m/s is the speed of light in vacuum. Therefore, the number of incident photons could be rewritten as:
N
v
=
P

f
\begin{align*} & N_v = \frac{P_{in}}{hf}, P_{in} = N_vhf \end{align*}
Nv=hfPin,Pin=Nvhf
At the same time, the electron numbers could also be rewritten:

\begin{align*} & N_e = \frac{I_P}{q}, I_P = N_eq \end{align*}

q=1.602176634 \times10^{-19}
q=1.602176634×10−19(C, coulombs), now we can rewrite the definition of Camera’s Responsibility:
