【英语】Literally和Figuratively的区别

之前一直看himym里面Ted纠Robin关于literally和figuratively的错误。

然后昨天看了一个采访，底下的评论说：“但是他们这次真的用对了literally和figuratively”

• literally本意为“字面上的”

e.g. I am literally foaming at the mouth.

表示：this literally means the real foam is coming out of his or her mouth（真的有泡沫从我口里出来）

• figuratively本意为“比喻性的”

e.g. I am figuratively foaming at the mouth.

表示：we can infer that he or she is using the idiom foaming at the mouth, which means very angry, and that no mouth foam is actually present.（表示这个人非常的生气，而不是真的有泡沫从口里出来）

btw，这个在中文语境里倒是没有什么很大的模糊性，可能只是因为其他人乱用literally，所以让有一部分了解区别的人很生气吧。就像Ted Mosby : D
