The speaker considers that no field of study can advance significantly unless outsiders bring their knowledge and experience to that field of study. In my point of view, I agree with speaker for two reasons.
The first reason why I have such a view is that field of study can not attain significant improvement without opening researcher's minds by study knowledge and experience of other fields. While the study is in the dilemma, they attemp to use reseraching method of other discipline rather than method which was designed initially. For example, arithmetic analysis in computer science is very complex and difficult, which study peformence efficiency and cost of programing arithmetic executed on the computer. Because diversity among every arithmetic vary significantly. while use mathematic methods to abstract and standardize them, reseracher can easily evalute their efficiency and cost in executing progress.
The second reason is that a new discipline using the knowledge and experience of other field can begin to study with good foundation. It can advance significantly and rapidly on the base of achievement of other field. For instance, data mining is a new discipline of computer science, which ananlysis vast large amount of data and find usefuln information to direct next step. It is established on the base of many other disciplines in computer science which are database theory, arithmetic design and others. It was born with strong ability that establishing data model using database theory and designing efficient arithmecic to "mine" the profitable information.
In sum, from what have discussed above, we may final draw conclusion that no field of study can advance significantly unless outsiders bring their knowledge and experience to that field of study.
