This time, I want to focus on the most basic operations from scratch, taking GitHub as example. Let's suppose you have a folder on C drive devoted to the project. It will be the root directory then.

Remember back that when you create a new repository Git automatically create some initial files for you? So before you can commit your change to the aster branch on server, you have to check that files out to make your local master branch up-to-date.
By doing that fetch operation, you just have checked the files out into your local disk, they are residing somewhere else other than the branch you are working on, so that you must explicitly merge them:
Now you are ready to commit:
By running a commit command, the commitment is still just local, to synchronize the branch on server, you need to run push command:
