How to make a good presentation

 

[Good afternoon,everyone. It's an honor to have the opportunity to make such a presentation to you."How to make a good presentation", This is a question that perhasps everybody will encounter during his/er daily work.

After prepare from the internet and according to my own experience. I have the following ideas to share with you all:]

 

 

1) Less is More

Due to the limitation of the paper you show to others, you have to express your ideas better within 3 to 5 key points/lines per page, so that everybody could grasp the main idea of what you said. Imagine that if you cut and paste hundreds of words in one page, both the listeners and speakers will feel boring after reading ONLY ONE slide.

Furthermore, better conclude your articles in less than 20 slides .ppt file. And the duration period for your speach would be less than 1 hour.

[So I shall only take 5 mins of your time. I belive less is more better.]


 

2)Good Logic agenda and Meaningful Titles

Put what you have to say in a logic sequeue,and outline them as an agenda. Ensure your speech will be captiviating to your audience .

Besides, a good PPT can leave the audience a deep impression. Express your idea use a concise, clear and meaninful titles. These meaningful titles can help the people concentrate the relative slides.

 

 

3) DO NOT Read Your Slides

If you read your slides to audience, they can also. Do not just read it, give listeners what you think and discuss some of the key points in details in each slide.

Speak loudly and clearly, sound confident.

 

4)Do a good interaction

Give changes for listeners to ask question, discuss with them and if something is not clear, do not leave it until there is an answer. Speak to your audience, listen to their question. respond to their reactions, adjust and adapt.Remember that communication is the key to a successful presentation.

Always be preparedfor the unexprected.If you ae short of time, know what can be safely left out. If you have extra time ,know what could be effecitvely added. 

Pause. Allow yourself and your audience a little time to reflect and think. Don't race/speed up through your presentation and leave your audience, as well as yourself, feeling out of breath. 

Add humor whenever appropriate and possible, keep audience interested throughout your entire presentation. 

Remember that an interesting speech makes time fly, but a boring speech is always too long to endure even if the presentation time is the same.

 

5) Make a success beginning

The first impression is critical, let the audience enjoy your speach in the first minute. "A good begining is half of sucess". Usually, the start convers: greeting, introducing yourself and your topic , outline ... If you make a good start it will be impressed by you audience.

 

6) Make a Good Ending

After talking for a long time, the audience may have forgotten some points you said , please conclude all of your contents in brief words at the end of presentation. Let them feel interesting and willing to join your presentation next time.


[Other tips about presentation]

  1. How to practice your presentation? Know your material thoroughly. Practice and rehear your speech at home or where you can be confortable, in front of a mirror,your family, friends or colleagues. Use a tape-recorder and listen to yourselft.Videotape your presentation and analyze it.
  2. Performing as an actor is on stage. Dress appropriately for the occasion.Look pleasant, enthusiastic, confident, proud, but not arrogant.Remain calm. Appear relaxed, even if you feel nervous.
  3. Body languange, BL is important, standing, walking or moving about with appropriate hand gesture.
  4. Speak with conviction, as if you really believe in what you are saying, Persuade your audience effectively. 
  5. Maintain sincere eye  contact with you audience. Use the 3-second method,e.g. look straight into the eyes of person in the audience for 3 seconds at a time. Have direct eye contact witha number of people in the audience, and then glance at the whole audience while speaking. Use your eye contact to make everyone in your audience feel involved.
  6. Handouts, have handouts ready and give them out at the appropriate time. Tell audience ahead of time,so that they will not wast time taking unneccessary notes during your presentation.
