M0 generally is the "same" for MPS as PD is for MRP. Out of the box, 'M0' is configured to use unplanned consumption and unplanned requirements where 'PD' is configured to use planned consumption and requirements. Big difference is your planning results or not firmed: I.E. order proposals and rescheduling.
You can change your MRP type settings: Production > Production Planning > Master Production Scheduling > Master Data > Check MRP Types. If you plan on making drastic changes though, you should create a "Z.." MRP type.
