The University of Zurich and ETH in Zurich are leading international universities with extensive research programs. The successful candidate will be a member of both the Laboratory for Social and Neural Systems Research (SNS Lab) and the MRI Methods Development Group within the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBT).

This is a highly interdisciplinary project. Hence we are looking for applicants with a(n):

• master's degree in physics, engineering or an equivalent field

• solid background in mathematics

• sound programming skills [ e.g. Matlab or C or C++ ]

• avid interest in neuroscience

• experience in scientific research

• command of written and spoken English

方向：

The specific aims of the project are to implement novel quality assurance methods and evaluate the reproducibility of functional MRI (fMRI) data and results. The successful candidate will a) become an expert user of magnetic field monitoring equipment and develop cutting-edge fMRI data acquisition methods, b) perform statistical evaluations to establish reliable measures of reproducibility of said fMRI data, and c) be involved with neuroscience applications that use the acquired high-quality data for functional mapping of the human brain.

PhD project 1: Evidence-based approach detecting brain recovery following a concussion: the potential of advanced neuroimaging.

The proposed project aims to improve diagnostic tools of concussion and recovery management by utilizing state-of-the-art magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to detect subtle changes in the structure and function of the brain that cannot be seen on conventional clinical MRI. The work will provide an evidence-based approach to determining return to play. Through this research, the field can advance targeted interventions to optimize treatment and accelerate recovery.

职位要求：

Prior experience with image processing and data analysis of magnetic resonance imaging data is highly favorable, including diffusion tensor imaging, functional magnetic resonance imaging, etc. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, physics, neuroscience, psychology, or computational neuroscience.

Ph.D. project 2: Soft Robotics for Stroke Rehabilitation: A Neuroimaging Assessment of Brain Function.

 In this project, we will investigate the effectiveness of soft robotics for improving patient outcomes and use functional and structural MRI to determine the real-time changes in the brain during and after soft-robotic rehabilitation。

Students typically enter the Ph.D. program under one of three sub-programs (Marketing Science, Consumer Behaviour, Consumer Neuroscience)

Masters’ degree (preferably a Research Master´s or MPhil degree)

  Marketing Science

• Background in a quantitative field, such as quantitative marketing, economics, statistics, computer science, management science, or operations research

• Energy and passion for conducting research in quantitative social sciences

• Experience writing computer code in a language such as R, Python, Java, or C++ (no specific language is favored or required, however)

• Skills in data management, preparation, and visualization, ideally as part of at least one end-to-end data science project

Consumer Behaviour

• Background in psychology, statistics, business, or a related discipline

• Energy and passion for consumer behavior, consumer psychology, and marketing

• Experience conducting experimental research with human participants

• Statistical skills and command of standard software packages for analyzing experimental data (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS, Stata, JASP), and a strong willingness to develop these skills further

• Command of empirical software packages (e.g., Qualtrics, MediaLab, Authorware, E-Prime) and a strong willingness to develop these skills further

Consumer neuroscience

• Background in cognitive neuroscience, cognitive psychology, or biological psychology

• A definite interest of applying neuroscience to the field of decision-making
