wrapper chain的两种工作case
两种工作case面向本模块内部逻辑的测试和上一层次与本模块交互的逻辑测试;
即Internal mode和external mode;
- internal mode
测试submodule内部的逻辑;
input wrapper chain launch data到内部逻辑, input wrapper chain 仅工作在shift模式下,如果是shared wrapper cell,其SE由SCAN_EN与int_ltest_en相或控制;
output wrapper chain 从内部逻辑中capture data,如果是shared wrapper cell,其SE由SCAN_EN与ext_ltest_en相或控制; - external mode
测试上层逻辑与submodule边界逻辑;
与internal mode正好相反,
input wrapper chain capture 边界逻辑launch的数据,
output wrapper chain launch数据到边界逻辑;
Shared Wrapper Cell vs. Dedicated Wrapper Cell
Both shared and dedicated wrapper cells play crucial roles in Design for Test (DFT) by facilitating scan chain insertion and enhancing testability. However, they differ in their implementation and usage:
1. Implementation:
Shared Wrapper Cell:
- Utilizes existing flip-flops (FFs) within the design.
- No additional cells are inserted, making it area-efficient.
- May require additional logic to control scan chain operation.
Dedicated Wrapper Cell:
- Special-purpose cells specifically designed for scan chain insertion.
- Inserted at input/output ports or other desired locations.
- Offers more control and flexibility for scan chain operations.
2. Usage:
Shared Wrapper Cell:
- Preferred for designs with limited area resources.
- Suitable for internal scan chains or non-critical signals.
- May not be ideal for high-fanout signals or complex scan chain configurations.
Dedicated Wrapper Cell:
- Recommended for critical signals or high-fanout scenarios.
- Provides better control and observability for scan chain testing.
- Enhances test coverage and fault diagnosis capabilities.
- May increase area overhead compared to shared wrapper cells.
3. Advantages:
Shared Wrapper Cell:
- Area-efficient
- Reduced design complexity
Dedicated Wrapper Cell:
- Improved control and flexibility
- Enhanced testability and fault coverage
4. Disadvantages:
Shared Wrapper Cell:
- Limited control and observability
- May not be suitable for complex scan chains
Dedicated Wrapper Cell:
- Increased area overhead
- Requires additional design effort
Choosing between Shared and Dedicated Wrapper Cells:
The choice between shared and dedicated wrapper cells depends on various factors such as:
- Area constraints
- Testability requirements
- Signal criticality
- Scan chain complexity
Generally, shared wrapper cells are preferred for area-constrained designs with less stringent testability requirements. Dedicated wrapper cells are ideal for critical signals, high-fanout scenarios, and complex scan chain configurations where improved control and observability are crucial.
