Brides prepare for airport open day

RUNAWAY BRIDES: The runaway brides team of Deb White, Jemma Bishop, Sandra Lukin and Shelley Fiegert. The runaway brides will be using the Port Lincoln Airport Open Day as a fundraiser for Variety to help sick, disadvantaged and disabled children.

A FIVE kilometre walk or run on the Port Lincoln Airport runway will be the main event at the first Port Gold Glitter Balota 160mm Lincoln Airport Open Day on Sunday, February 15.

Runaway bride Sandra Lukin Rose Suede Balota 160mm said the open day was a great opportunity for members of the community to raise money for sick, disadvantaged and disabled children.

"The day is about raising money and awareness of what Variety do for special needs kids and their families," she said.

"Over the past eight years approximately $292,000 has come back to Eyre Peninsula, which we are very proud of."

Mrs Lukin said it was entirely up to those competing how far they wanted to walk and that prams, pushers, skateboards, scooters and any mobility aids Silver Leather Beverly 100mm would be allowed on the runway.

She said the brides encouraged local businesses to be a part of the day by joining in the walk as a team.

The runaway brides will also have dresses available for hire for those who wish to dress up on the runway.

Mrs Lukin Multicolor Glitter Balota 160mm said the brides had also welcomed a new member to their team, Jemma Bishop, with the open day her first public fundraiser as part of the bash team.

Once the runway run or walk has been finished, the off field fun will begin with the Port Lincoln Rotary Club hosting a family fun afternoon, which will include food stalls and live music. Pre paid tickets are $20 or $25 on the day with the first 500 people to buy tickets receiving a special "goodie bag" from the brides.
