With the significent changes, dianping.com will be a real rival to citiwiki. It happened I was interviewed both. Unfortunately (or fortunately), dianping rejected me because my response to web 2.0 not satisfied them. To be honest, i had not learnt the concept about web 2.0 at that time (but i am sure i understand many things a long ago, just do not know it can be called web 2.0). Then I came to citiwiki. After talking with Bran, the leader of citiwiki, I learnt a lot. I think citiwiki is a very exciting plan. It should succeed.

I had to say, compare to citiwiki, dianpin don't catch the essence of web 2.0 (what i understand now), though they have the dominance in food area.

Focus on current dianping beta 3.0, It's very dangous to push the user to the complete new interface what they don't expect. You think it's the right thing or useful to the users, but it not always true (if not always wrong). The poor users of dianping had suffered from such drive many times, for example last time dianping changed the name of website and ui.

What the good approach is to guide the users, not drive them. I admit dianping is trying to imporve the ui and ue(user experience), go to a web 2.0 right way, but lack of good methodology. The only good news to dianping is that users have no other choices till now. If they want to copy the success in food area to other area, they should think more deeper. 

On the contrary, citiwiki have no such issue. Of cuz, they have no website now, so it maybe too early to say that. But the wiki mode makes me believe that. Far beyond it, citiwiki will also base on a totally different biz mode. In the future, even I am not join citiwiki, I and everyone could contibute to the citiwiki thanks to that great biz mode.

I finally go to SNDA, so i can't say any more about citiwiki or dianping, but my friend HongLiang will join citiwiki, maybe he could tell us sth fresh. Currently, there is only dianping, the users have no choice though dianpin do not quite good. I wish citiwiki will be online soon and let us see a new possibility.
