Auto And Manual archiving

Specify Multi-ARCn Process

1. The dynamic parameter

   LOG_ARCHIVE_MAX_PRCESSED controls the number of archive processes started at instance startup

2.A maximum of ten ARCn processes can be specified

3. The number of ARCn processes can be changed with ALTER SYSTEM

Specifying the Destination

1.Use LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n to specify up t ten archival destinatons

2 . Use LOG_ARCHIVE_FORMAT to include the log sequence number and thread nunmber as part of the filename

Specify a Mini Local Dests

1.LOG_ARCHIVE_MIN_SUCCEED_DEST parameter

    LOG_ARCHIVE_MIN_SUCCEED_DEST=2

2. An online redo log group can ben reused only if :

   a.Archiving has been done to all mandatoary locations

   b. The number of local locations  archived is greater than or equal to the value of the    

        LOG_ARCHIVE_MIN_SUCCEED_DEST parameter

Controlling Archiving

1.An archival destination can be disabled by using the dynami initializating parameter

  LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_STATE_n=DEFER

2. Archiving to a destination can ben enabled again

  LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_STATE_n=ENABLE
