Types of overtime compensation in North America
北美的几种加班补偿

Employees working in the public sector (ie. government), they receive standard compensation for overtime, but these rules don’t automatically apply to employees in the private sector.
在公共部门工作的员工加班也能获得标准补助,但是私企的雇员可能就不一定有这么好的福利了。
Time off in lieu; compensatory time; or comp time refers to a type of work schedule arrangement that allows (or requires) workers to take time off instead of, or in addition to, receiving overtime pay.
调休,补休,或根据工作安排补偿性的休假代替加班工资,或者有的公司也会另发加班工资。
For example, non-exempt workers must receive at least one and one half times their normal hourly wage for every hour worked beyond 40 hours in a work week. With comp time, the worker could forgo the 12 hours of overtime pay and instead take 8 paid hours off at some future date.
比如有加班费领取资格的员工在每周超过40小时之外的工作时间必须获得1.5倍时薪的工资补偿。但是如果有补偿性的休假,员工就可以放弃12个小时时薪的加班补偿,而获得8小时的时薪以及未来的调休机会。
In some other jurisdictions, employers might be required to pay the overtime at the higher rate (e.g. 1.5 times the normal rate) but also be allowed to require time off in lieu at the normal rate.
在其他一些地区,雇主可能需要支付更高的加班费(例如正常费率的1.5倍),但也可以正常支付工资但另加调休。
In some cases, particularly when employees are represented by a labour union, overtime may be paid at a higher rate than 1.5 times the hourly pay. In some factories, for example, if workers are required to work on a Sunday, they may be paid twice their regular rate, i.e., double time.
在某些情况下,特别是当雇员代表工会时,加班费的报酬率可能高达时薪的1.5倍。例如,在一些工厂,如果工人应要求在星期日工作,工资可能是正常工资的两倍,也就是双倍工资。
