What is automation?
• Completely autonomous without human interact
• Improved efficiency of a task & productivity (A singular task within an entire process)
• Lake of intelligence (Limited capabilities & Capacity)
• Repetition of a single/menial task often as part of mass production
• Long-term investment
• Removes potential human errors
• Reduce wastage
Cost
Error
• Static Variables (1 in 1 out)
• Mainly mechanical
Summary: Automation is using physical machine, computer software or other technologies to instead of human being to do a task, which would reduce human errors and improve the effieiency.
What is Robotics?
• Collaborative (Always) [Robots Human] (Regular)
• Cob tics human user with robot tool
• Multiple dynamic variables (input) 1 output
• Robots have the ‘Intelligence’ to adapt & adjust (Get the robot to learn for itself) (AI)
• Accurate & Precise
• Usually includes some form of human interaction (e.g. Initial Programming) (Update it when the task has been changed)
• Complex coding based upon multifunctional ability (Code by Programmer)
• Pre-defined operational parameters
• Can be used as a promotional tool
• Broad use of different sensors that respond/react to the environment
Summary: It is a is a programmable machine capable of performing a series of actions autonomously or semi-automatically. They interact with the physical world through sensors and actuators. Because they are reprogrammable, they are more flexible than single-function machines.
