Learning Chinese Lesson Two

In this lesson, we are going to learn more 4 chars  ( I was used to be a C programmer😊 ).

First, 口, is the mouth, sounds like coa in coat. Very simple, a little square, looks like a mouth very much.

Second, 日, is the sun, sounds like ri in rich.  By adding a short line inside the mouth, it turs to be the sun. The modern Chinese chars are changed from their ancient pictures. At the beginning, it’s a circle with a dot in the middle of it. And then the circle turns to be a square, while the dot turns to be a line.

Third, 月, is the moon, sounds like yeah. It’s also changed from its ancient picture that the moon likes like a boat around the beginning of every month.

The modern Chinese char is a kind of logogram, however it’s developed from the hieroglyph in about 150 ancient pictures.

These 150 pictures can be considered as the root of Chinese chars.

Forth,  the last one in this lesson, 不, means No! sounds like bull in bullshit.  I always tell my western friends, when  native Chinese say 不, it really mean denying  something very firmly, especially when he or she doesn’t look like kidding. For a native Chinese, there’s seldom “no, but balala“

See you in Lesson Three
