——The best way to write a good paper is to write more.

From 24th December, I begin to work on my academic paper again since I have finished my master’s degree thesis. I plan to submit it to an English journal before 23rd January.

For a master’s degree student, the initial task for us is to do research and write academic papers. From my point of view, it can be divided into three procedures.

Firstly, read at least 10 core papers in your research field carefully. You need to spend 1 week on every paper and read each paper at least 3 times. Write down your ideas while you are reading. After reading 3 times, review your notes. If you still have some questions, discuss it with your classmates and teachers. If you still have some modify ideas, keep them. It should take 10 weeks.

Secondly, after you have taken master of an overview of your research field, you can try to propose a scheme based on your feelings after reading the 10+ papers. It can be a theoretical scheme, it can be an experimental attempt. It doesn’t matter, the key point is to do something that you think by yourself. It should take 1 week.

Thirdly, you can have a meeting with your mentor to present your scheme. He will give you a lot of suggestions. Such kind of meeting can last for at least 3 times. It should take 3 weeks.

Lastly, after your mentor agree that you can work on an academic paper, begin to write on it. It’s at this time that you will realize how important it is to write down your ideas while you’re reading, proposing seems and discussing your schemes. Set up a framework and modify the article. You need to provide a version to your teacher at least once a week and for at least 3 times. It should take 3 weeks.

On totally, from you begin to work a research field to you can submit an academic article, I think it needs at least 17 weeks.
