Our Lab at Mayo Clinic is integrating dry-lab genomics analysis with wet-lab experiments to screen therapeutic targets and new drugs, e.g., identify driver mutations, novel biomarkers, epigenetic regulation of immune and tumor cells, histone modifications, genomic variations, non-coding RNA, tumor/immune/stroma crosstalk in tumor/inflammation microenvironment, and work with chemists to design and discover new bioactive compounds, protein/RNA-based drugs and novel immunotherapies for treating Brain Tumor and Neurodegenerative Diseases.
The dry lab performs integrative multi-genomics analysis, integrating genomic profiles of cancer patients, such as WGS, RNA-seq, Spatial Transcriptomics, Single Cell RNA-seq/ATAC-seq and proteomics, as well as epigenetic profiles, DNA methylation, m6A-seq, ChIP-seq, and HiC (3D genome) to screen novel therapeutic targets or identify novel tumor-immune cell interactions within the 3D tumor microenvironment and the experimental group will validate the targets and further identify novel drugs and combination therapies using mice models.
Our team has published papers in Science Translational Medicine (Cover Story), Cancer Cell (Cover Story), Angewandte Chemie (VIP paper), Nature, Cancer Discovery, Nature Systhesis as well as computational genomics journals, The Journal of Organic Chemistry, PLOS computational Biology, Briefings in Bioinformatics, and Bioinformatics, etc. The postdoc candidates or trainees will learn both computational and experimental skills at our Lab, and this will place them in a very competitive position in the future job market. Our team includes physicians, cancer biologists, chemists, and computational biologists to deliver genomics medicine, and new drugs from basic research to clinical trials.

Postdoc Fellow and Research Associate Positions in Brain Tumor Biology
The position is available for a Post-doctoral Research Associate or PhD student studying tumor microenvironment, driver coding and non-coding mutations, non-coding RNAs, epigenetic regulation in Brain Tumors, and screening novel drugs and drug combinations for treating brain tumors.
Description:
1. Postdoc candidates should get a PhD (or be close to completing degrees) in the area of molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, cancer biology, brain tumor biology, immunology, and neuroscience.
2. The qualified candidate should have strong communication skills, be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work in a collaborative setting.
3. He/She should be proficient in essential experimental skills, including cell culture, molecular clone (such as the construction of knock-down or knock-out), ChIP-qPCR, real-time PCR, flow cyto, construction of brain tumor patient-derived xenograft mouse model and genetic engineered mouse model of brain tumors. The position expects experience in building next generation sequencing (NGS) libraries such as RNA-seq, single cell RNAseq, spatial transcriptomics, single cell ATAC-seq, and ChIP-seq. Strong next generation sequencing (NGS) analysis skill is a plus.
4. First-author publications (or be close to completing publications) in cancer, especially in drug discovery in brain tumors or neurological diseases are required. High-quality paper in the field of brain tumor biology based on NGS is a strong plus.
5. Experience in gene/cell therapy in cancer research, such as immunotherapies for cancers especially in brain tumors is a big plus.
Remuneration:
