Ubuntu install of ROS Indigo

1. Configure your Ubuntu repositories to allow "restricted," "universe," and "multiverse."
   Ubuntu Software Center-->Edit--->Software Sources

2. sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://packages.ros.org/ros/ubuntu trusty main" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ros-latest.list'

3. wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ros/rosdistro/master/ros.key -O - | sudo apt-key add -

4. sudo apt-get update

5. sudo apt-get install ros-indigo-desktop-full
   

6. sudo rosdep init

7. rosdep update

8. echo "source /opt/ros/indigo/setup.bash" >> ~/.bashrc

9. source ~/.bashrc

10. sudo apt-get install python-rosinstall

11. apt-get source ros-hydro-laser-pipeline

12. sudo apt-get install ros-fuerte-visualization

13. sudo apt-get install ros-indigo-rviz
    

To find available packages, use:

apt-cache search ros-indigo

Start up the rviz

1. roscore &

2. rosrun rviz rviz
