万圣节习俗南瓜灯Jack-o’-lantern!

万圣节前夕是美国人年年都会庆祝的秋季节日 。它的意思 是“神圣的夜晚”，在每年的10月31日，也就是万圣节前夜。孩子们会制作万圣节的装饰品：各种各样桔黄色的南瓜灯。

Halloween is an autumn holiday that Americans celebrate every year. It means "holy evening,"and it comes every October 31, the evening before All Sainats' Day.Children would make Halloween decorations, all kinds of orange-paper jack-o-lanterns。

“空心南瓜灯”是万圣节的象征。The jack-o-lantern is the symbol of Halloween.

夜幕降临，孩子们便迫不及待地穿上五颜六色的化妆服，戴上千奇百怪的面具，提上一盏“南瓜灯”跑出去玩。“南瓜灯”的样子十分可爱，做法是将南瓜掏空，外面刻上笑眯眯的眼睛和大嘴巴，然后在瓜中插上一支蜡烛，把它点燃，人们在很远的地方便能看到这张憨态可掬的笑脸。

The tradition of the Jack o' Lantern comes from a folktale。about a man named Jack who tricked the devil and had to wander the Earth with a lantern. The Jack o' Lantern is made by placing a candle inside a hollowed-out pumpkin, which is carved to look like a face.

今天我们要做一些南瓜灯。Today, we are gonna make some Jack-O-Lanterns together.

首先我们在顶端画一个圆圈。First, let’s draw a circle on the top.

现在我们把顶端切下来。Now let’s cut off the top.

把多余的部分也切下来。And cut off the part we don’t need.

把南瓜里面清理干净。Clean out the inside of the pumpkin.

里面的籽和瓤很好闻，你闻一下吗?The seeds and pulp smell nice, can you smell it?

我们来画它的脸吧。Now let’s draw its face.

鼻子，一只眼睛，两只眼睛，嘴巴和牙齿。The nose, one eye, two eyes, and the mouth and teeth.

我们把脸部刻出来。Now let’s cut out the face.

把它擦干净。Let’s wipe it clean.

另一个有着一个圆鼻子和笑脸。Another one with a round nose and a smiley face.

我们一起把蜡烛点亮吧。Let’s light the candles together.
