The Team Design Manager Administrator Guide assumes that you are a project administrator or manager who is installing and maintaining Team Design Manager software, supervising the directory structure, and managing the integration and internal release of designs.
Design Management Options
In a single-user environment, for simple designs, you can choose to use no design management. Cadence design tools read and write directly to the file system and require no modification to work in this environment. You use standard UNIX commands to perform design management tasks.
As your design or project grows, you can convert the project to one of the multiuser Team Design Manager solutions. Team Design Manager provides mechanisms for controlling access to managed data, setting up more secure projects, establishing e-mail notification lists that notify various groups about project events (such as releases), and maintaining project library searchlists.
- Base Team Design Manager
If you need design management, but not the full capabilities of Team Design Manager, you can use Base Team Design Manager, available with the 4.4.x or 5.x release of Design Framework II™. - Formal Team Design Manager
For complete design management, use the Team Design Manager product, which includes a Formal release mechanism and other features beyond Base Team Design Manager.
Whether your design project is a two-person task or involves several work groups contributing to a major project, you can have a design environment where you share data—or work independently when you choose.
If you are leading the project, you can set up the project, supervise the data sharing, and prepare releases. Team Design Manager offers solutions to these and other common design management problems.
