英语写作中“不同的”different、distinct的用法

一、different表达一般“不同的”，不涉及其差别大小，例如：

The laboratory is equipped with devices of different types.（实验室配备了不同类型的设备。）

The newly deployed system is different from the old one.（新布置的系统和老的不同。）

二、distinct 涉及差别大小，表达“明显不同”，例如：

Modern cryptographic techniques falls into two distinct categories：symmetrical encryption and public key encryption.（现代密码技术分为非常不同的两类：对称加密和公钥加密。）

这一句中用different 也可以，但体现不出非常不同。

The newly emerging AI technology——deep learning is distinct from traditional AI technology.（新出现的AI技术深度学习与传统AI技术非常不同。）

They proposed a distinct framework for deep learning.（他们提出了一个全新的深度学习框架。）

In this paper, we will present a distinct scheme of user authentication.（本文将提出一个全新的用户认证方案。）

建议在写作中尽量使用distinct，除非不关心差别，或差别不大。
