——Technical art is a job that needs both coding ability and painting knowledge.

  1. Motivation
    I like games, but I’ve been controlling myself not to play games for that it’s time-consuming since high school. And I’m also interested in visional effects in CG(Computer graphics) videos. Those amazing animations really fascinate me, so that I have a strong motivation to make them on my own.

  2. Responsibilities

  3. Ensure that the art resources provided by the artists satisfy the demands. Ensure that these art resources meet the performance needs of the project, especially for art resources in the play, its performance consumption needs to be strictly controlled.

  4. Be able to develop some tools to improve the efficiency of art personnel in making art resources. If the the art staff is the producer, the program personnel is the consumer, I think the technical art should be the processor, ensures the consumer eat the cooked food, not the raw material itself that has not yet been processed.
    3.Study the use of DCC tools and engines to provide technical support to art personnel, as art workers often do not have sufficient computer base and may, therefore, be using some problems are encountered in these tools. Technical art should be able to solve these problems for art personnel.
    4.Can write some shaders to meet the needs of the project on your own. Unity and Unreal Engine a relatively high degree of freedom of business engine, in order to implement the specific requirements of the project visual effects, the ability to write your own shader may be necessary.
    5.Able to produce independently used to demonstrate the effect of the demo. This can improve development efficiency and reduce time cycles.

  5. Requirements
    1.Familiar with DCC(Digital content creation tools:3ds Max、Maya and so on).
    2.Familiar with business engines (Unity,Unreal Engine and so on).
    3.Familiar with some programming languages. Such as Python,C# and other programming languages; Maxscript、Mel(Maya Embedded Language) and other-time development language;GLSL(OpenGL shader language)、HLSL(High level shader language) and other shader languages.
    4.Familiar with computer graphics more than those mentioned above. And you need to have some theoretical basis.

  6. Good English reading skills, this post in the country is not a mature position, a lot of information is from abroad and lack of Chinese translation version.
    Some soft skill requirements are also needed, such as basic computer knowledge, basic art knowledge and so on. This position is a relatively strong requirement for comprehensive ability. After all, there are relatively few people interested in computers and fine arts at the same time.

  7. Summary
    Technical art is mainly in game production and CG movies. Computer professionals interested in art, or art professionals interested in computers, maybe more suitable for this position.
    This position needs more theoretical study and practical experience, is a highly professional position. It’s not a low-threshold job, if necessary, to gets started, I expect to need at least one Year of off-the-work learning can only be done.
